KeyBank and the Amsterdam Recorder need help to decide where to donate $5,000.
A $1,000 1st place gift and a $500 2nd place gift will be awarded to the nonprofit organizations receiving the most votes in each of the following categories:
* Arts and Culture
* Health and Human Services
* Civic and Community
Cast your vote at any participating Montgomery County branch during normal
business hours, August 16 - October 1, 2010, or click the link below to go the the Recorder's website.

The Friends of the Visual and Performing Arts could really use your help! We are an all-volunteer 501(c)3 non-profit organization, and any funds we receive go toward helping youth and adults participate in and experience the arts in the Mohawk Valley.

International Children's Painting Competition
Deadline: April 15, 2010
The United Nations Environment Program's International Children's Painting Competition invites young people (ages 6-14) to submit their paintings on the theme to the relevant UNEP Regional Office. This year's theme is "Biodiversity: Connecting with Nature." The competition encourages children from all parts of the world to focus on particular environmental issues and how these issues affect their communities. Regional winners will be announced on World Environment Day, June 5, 2010. The regional first prize winners each will receive a cash prize and a trip for themselves and an accompanying adult to the Tunza International Children’s Conference in Aichi, Japan, August 2010.
